Every now and again a music group comes along that manages to somehow sneak up and attack us all with talent and charm. Since we are all so distracted daily by the network news and shopping, it is no wonder how the sensational group Wham Chung passed right by with nobody noticing; except a few of their biggest fans (coincedentally all family members of the band). With hard work and determination, Wham Chung has climbed the ladder of success as far as it can be climbed when you are a Wham/Wang Chung cover band. Meet Sue, Rosalyn, Bernice, and Faye; 4 of the nicest ladies you could ever know. They are all freinds from high school and they hail from Wyoming. After graduation, the girls decided to skip college and move to the city to start working at a popular bar and grill. Some nights the girls would get so drunk that they would dance and sing for everybody around them. Well it wasn't long before a talent scout spotted them and offered them a recording contract. Thus, The Meadowlarks were born. Negotiations were made and the girls began to try and write some original songs for their first album. Back at the bar and grill, the girls were merely taking requests; singing classics like "Happy Birthday" and "For He's A Jolly Good Fellow". Not one of them had any experience writing original lyrics. It was no secret that they could carry a tune; the problem was in writing a tune in which they could indeed carry, or at least attempt to lift. After the first solution to hire a songwriter failed miserably, the girls held a meeting at which they decided to break up. The inability to create lyrics for their songs proved to be a burden on all of them. Rosalyn, Bernice, Faye, and Sue all went their own way; kind of like when the Muppets split as they were trying to take Manhattan. However, many moons later in March of 1990, the ladies planned a reunion in Las Vegas. They were going to spend a week catching up on old gossip and play some serious poker. Lo and behold on their third night together, all having consumed mass quantities of Zima, the ladies broke out in a wild song and dance routine. The whole casino was roaring with excitement. Without rehearsing together for over 30 years, these ladies put together an amazing medley of Wham and Whang Chung songs that no human ear had ever experienced. Instantly a hit, all four of them stayed in Vegas where they were awarded 5 shows a week. Wham Chung was the show to see. They stayed in Vegas for years and eventually took their show on the road around the globe. With songs like "Careless Dance Hall" and "Everything She Wants Dies in L.A.", there is no stopping this rock and roll locomotive. Check your local listings for an upcoming Wham Chung concert. Once you are a part of this phenomenon your life will never be the same.
The crowd gets ready to boogie.
